適應症：在加護病房治療期間初接受插管及人工呼吸器照護病人之鎮靜作用、非插管病人接受手術或其他程序前及/或手術或程序進行中之鎮靜作用，無論上述何種情況，靜脈輸注投與Precedex的時間，皆不得超過24小時。
Usual dose:
Premedication for anesthetic procedure, Nonintubated patients:
Initial, loading infusion of 1 mcg/kg IV over 10 minutes; for less invasive procedures (ie, ophthalmic surgery), initial loading infusion of 0.5 mcg/kg IV over 10 minutes may be sufficient.
Maintenance, 0.6 mcg/kg/hr IV infusion titrated to desired clinical effect with doses ranging from 0.2 to 1 mcg/kg/hr.
(awake, fiberoptic intubation) initial loading infusion of 1 mcg/kg IV over 10 minutes, followed by maintenance infusion of 0.7 mcg/kg/hr until endotracheal tube is secured.
Sedation, Intubated/mechanically ventilated ICU patients for greater than 24 hours: 0.15 to 1.5 mcg/kg/hr (study dosage).
Sedation, Intubated/mechanically ventilated ICU patients for less than 24 hours:
Initial, loading infusion of 1 mcg/kg IV over 10 minutes; no loading dose required when converting from alternate sedative therapy.
Maintenance, 0.2 to 0.7 mcg/kg/hr continuous IV infusion titrated to desired clinical effect for a max. of 24 hours.
Adverse effect:
Common: hypertension, nausea, vomiting, xerostomia, anemia, fever.
Serious: atrial fibrillation, bradyarrhythmia, hypotension, sinus arrest, tachycardia, transient hypertension, ventricular tachycardia, acidosis, hypoxia, pulmonary edema, respiratory depression.
