Anti-infective Agents : Miscellaneous antibacterials
ISABS1 “SABS IV infusion sol’n” 5 mg/ml; 100 ml/vial
OFLAG1 “Flagyl tablet” 250 mg/tab
適應症：對metronidazole 具有感受性之厭氣菌所引起之嚴重感染，及對clindamycin、chloramphenicol、penicillin具抗藥性之易脆桿菌(Bacteroides fragilis) 所引起之感染。
Usual dose:
Amebiasis: PO
Adult: 500-750 mg tid.
Pediatric: 35-50 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses, max. 750 mg/dose.
Anaerobic infection: PO/IV
Adult & Pediatric: PO, 7.5 mg/kg q6h, max. 4 g/day; IV, initial, 15 mg/kg; maintenance, 7.5 mg/kg/h q6h, max. 4 g/day.
Trichomoniasis: PO
Adult: 250 mg tid or 375 mg bid for 7 days or 500 mg bid for 7 days or 2 g as a single dose.
Pediatric: 15 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses for 7-10 days; max. 250 mg/dose.
Dose adjustment:
Renal failure: GFR < 10 ml/min, 50% normal dose at usual dosing intervals.
Hepatic failure: for severe hepatic disease, reductions in dose are recommended.
Adverse effect:
Common: abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite, metallic taste, nausea and vomiting, Jarisch Herxheimer reaction, ataxia, seizure, candida infection of genital region, symptomatic cervicitis/vaginitis, vaginal discharge.
Serious: leukopenia, thrombocytopenic disorder, ototoxicity.
