Usual dose:

Adults: up to 2000 ml per patient per day

Children: 15 to 20 ml/kg body weight per day

Contraindication: hypersensitivity to human protein.

Precaution:

Certain severe adverse drug reactions may related to the rate of infusion. The recommended infusion rate given under “Route of administration” must be closely followed and patients must be closely monitored and carefully observed for any symptoms throughout the infusion period. Patients should be observed for at least 20 minutes after administration.

Adverse effects:

Reactions such as chills, headache, fever, vomiting, allergic reactions, nausea, arthralgia and mild back pain may occur occasionally. Rarely the contained immunoglobulins may cause a fall in blood pressure and, in isolated cases, anaphylactic reactions up to shock, even when the patient has shown no sensitivity to previous administration.
